How to Download a SlideShare Presentation
A complete, step by step guide to saving a public SlideShare presentation to your device, from finding the URL to fixing a download that didn’t work.
Find the Presentation and Copy Its URL
Every SlideShare presentation has its own public URL, usually in the form slideshare.net/username/presentation-title.
Open the presentation on SlideShare and copy the full address from your browser’s address bar. On mobile, tap and hold the address bar to copy it, or use the share option if the SlideShare app or site offers one.
Make sure the presentation is set to public by its uploader. If it requires you to log in to SlideShare to view it, it’s private, and it can’t be processed by this or any similar tool. See private presentations for what that means.
Paste the full URL
Include the whole address, starting with https colon slash slash.
Wait for validation
The tool checks that the link points to a public, accessible presentation.
Fix a URL error
A rejected link usually means the presentation is private, removed, or the URL was copied incorrectly.
Choose the Right Output Format
The format you pick changes what you can do with the file afterward.
| If you want to | Choose |
|---|---|
| Read, print or study the slides | |
| Edit slides in an older PowerPoint version | PPT |
| Edit slides in current PowerPoint | PPTX |
Unsure which one fits. The full format guide breaks down every option.
Download and Save the File
Once processing finishes, your browser will prompt you to save the file like any other download.
On desktop, the file typically lands in your downloads folder. On mobile, check your device’s downloads or files app. See the mobile download guide if you’re not sure where to look, or browse every download guide.
Fixing a Failed Download
Double check the link is complete and points to a public presentation.
Larger presentations take longer to process. See the troubleshooting guide.
Private and restricted presentations can’t be processed. This is intentional, not a bug.
Interactive elements, embedded video and some animations aren’t preserved in static exports.
