Why is my SlideShare download not working?

Almost every failed download traces back to one of four causes: an invalid or incomplete URL, a presentation that’s private or has been removed, a large presentation that needs more time to process, or a temporary issue on the tool’s end. Work through the checks below in order.

Confirm the URL Is Correct and Public

Copy the full link

Make sure you copied the entire URL, starting with https, and nothing got cut off.

Open it in a new tab

Paste the URL into a new browser tab. If it asks you to log in to SlideShare to view it, that’s the problem. See private presentations.

Check it still exists

A presentation that’s been deleted or made private since you first saw it will no longer be downloadable.

Give Large Presentations More Time

A presentation with a hundred or more slides takes longer to convert than a ten slide deck.

If the download appears stuck rather than failed outright, wait before retrying. Refreshing or resubmitting a large presentation partway through processing can interrupt it and force you to start over.

Why does the download button do nothing when I click it?

This usually means the URL wasn’t recognized as valid. Confirm you copied the complete link and that it points to a public presentation.

Why did my download stop partway through?

Large presentations take longer. If it’s been several minutes with no progress, refresh and try again rather than assuming it’s frozen.

The file downloaded but won’t open. What now?

Try opening it with a different app. A PDF that won’t open in one viewer often opens fine in another.

Why can’t I download a presentation I could view earlier?

The uploader may have made it private or removed it since you last saw it. See private presentations.
